Safaripark Zoo Stuckenbrok

Last year, we regularly visited Stukenbrock Safaripark, so often in fact that we decided this year to buy a season ticket. As our three-year-old twin boys go free, we only needed to purchase tickets for my husband and me. We worked out that we needed to go three times for it to be worth it, which we have already done, despite being only only half-way through the season.

The Safaripark has, as one would expect, a huge array of fascinating animals.  As you enter the park, you enter the lion's lair, these regal animals are stunning and a favourite with Bob L and Bob D.  Then you visit the white tigers; these amazing animals are truly something to behold as you can see in the photo below.  You then enter the main section, where you can relax and wind your window down to view the less dangerous animals up close.  Here you will see elephants, Bob L's favourite; and giraffes, Bob D's favourite, and affectionately termed Gee Gees.  As Bob D has to take his Gee Gee (cuddly soft toy) everywhere with him, he often sits Gee Gee on the dashboard so he can say hi to his brothers and sisters.

Once you drive round the main safari attraction and park your car, the theme park awaits.  This includes a monkey train which is a hit with the younger members of our family and popular with Daddy as it means the monkeys do not damage his car.  Popcorn can be purchased before you board the train to feed the monkeys; be careful though they have a tendancy to bite if you stick your fingers out the train!!!

One thing that strikes us as very different from the UK is when you pay, food and drink aside, there are no extra charges for the rides.  That's great for us as Bob D and Bob L love to go on rides over and over again. Recently, we went to Blairdrummond Safaripark in Scotland and were horrified that we had to pay extra for the rides inside the park - we have truly been spoiled by the family orientated German culture!

The safari park is a great day out for all the family, for more information check out their website: http://www.safaripark.de/
