Our favourite is the Naturbad (http://naturbad-brackwede.de) which has a man-made beach, slide and lots of space to picnic and for the little ones to run around. It feels like you are on holiday, which is a nice feeling when it is only the weekend.
We have not seen anything like this in the UK, although there is an argument that we don't have the weather to justify it.
One of the things we noticed was how much trust they have in the visitors to these pools (free to use buckets, spades and armbands) and how they don't scam you for money for using the amazing seats. It really is a pleasure to visit.
