Quiet hours - Quirks of Germany

When we were doing our research of Germany one of the things that kept coming up was the quiet hours that are imposed.

At certain times of the day, Sundays and bank holiday it is frowned upon to make excessive noise. So no cutting the grass or having your music on loudly.

At first I was unsure of this, especially as I have two, very noisy, children but what I have come to realise is that it is a blessing.

It forces your hand to have family time on a Sunday for example (all shops are closed on a Sunday also). I have lost count of the amount of times on a Sunday we have just nipped to B&Q and before you know it the day has gone!

I also am very thankful of how quiet it is, especially when my children are sleeping.

That said I have come to realise that it is not as strict as I had read. People do realise you have small children and that they will make noise - thank goodness for that!!
