New Year in Germany

Happy new year to everyone. We had a lovely time over the festive holidays. We explored Bielefeld a bit, as well as went on a few day trips. We were lucky enough to have family come to stay with us which made it all the more special. 

New Year in Germany was interesting. For some reason I had expected New Year to take a bit of a back seat to Christmas. However people go all out with fireworks!  Most people were letting them off in their garden at midnight which made for a very pretty (and noisy) celebration. Luckily (and amazingly) the boys slept through the whole thing!

The Christmas markets are over now, the centre of town looks empty and I am missing gluwein already!
